Plant-Based from the Inside Out

Sustainable Packaging

Herbaland products are packaged in 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) bottles, crafted entirely from recycled materials. By reusing plastics that might otherwise end up as waste, we eliminate the need for virgin plastics, reducing waste and supporting a more sustainable future.

Why are PCR Bottles More Sustainable than Regular Plastic Bottles?

Unlike traditional plastic bottles, which are made from virgin materials that deplete natural resources, PCR bottles mitigate this problem by reusing existing plastic waste or recycled material. This reduces the amount of waste in landfills and oceans and conserves energy and resources required to produce new plastics, creating a more circular economy.

Why we switched from Compostable Packaging

While we loved the compostable packaging, we faced durability issues as well as the lack of municipal compostability. We hope to bring back compostable packaging, once the technology makes it more easily compostable. We’re excited to introduce another sustainable alternative with the 100% recycled PCR bottles.

FAQ

What are PCR bottles made from?

PCR bottles are made from plastic that has been recycled from consumer-used plastics that have been recycled. This recycled material is then cleaned, processed, and repurposed into new bottles.

Why should I choose PCR bottles over regular plastic bottles?

Choosing PCR bottles helps reduce waste by giving new life to plastic that would otherwise end up in landfills. This choice supports recycling initiatives, reduces the demand for new plastic production, and minimizes the environmental impact.

Are there any differences in quality or appearance between PCR and regular plastic bottles?

There might be slight differences in appearance, such as color variations or minor imperfections, due to the recycled materials used. However, these differences do not affect the functionality or safety of the bottles.

Are Herbaland snack products still in compostable packaging?

Some of our snack products are still packaged in compostable packaging, but we are currently sourcing a better sustainable option for these as well. Compostable packaging works better for single serve packs, such as our Oh My! or Snacks with Benefits gummies, but still display the same issues with durability and ease of disposal that our supplement pouches faced. For best disposal, we recommend cutting up your packaging and placing it in your outside compost bin!
